MIXTAPE – HOST ADAM ROSE
Adam Rose’s “Mixtape” is a deep‑digging, toe‑tapping tour through a century of songs, guided by a guitarist who’s lived and breathed this music from Philly jazz clubs to the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Adam Rose traces the great American songbook from Louis Armstrong and doo‑wop harmonies to the hooks and grooves of right now—basically the songs Adam loves and thinks changed the way we listen. A Philadelphia native who first picked up guitar at a Quaker summer camp, Adam went on to study jazz with heavyweights connected to North Carolina Central and UNC, sharpened his classical chops in Curtis Institute–sponsored competitions, and now makes his home in Asheville as a full‑time guitarist, composer, and multi‑instrumentalist playing 250‑plus gigs a year. Along the way he’s played everything from church barbecues and the John Coltrane House in Philly to breweries and listening rooms across Western North Carolina, and that mix of grit, swing, and heart finds its way into every playlist he builds for the show.
On “Mixtape” expect Armstrong, doo‑wop street‑corner serenades, 60s British Invasion and classic singer‑songwriters, plus smart modern cuts that carry the same spirit—linked together by Adam’s stories from the bandstand and his knack for making music history feel like it’s happening right now. It’s part crash course, part hang with your favorite guitar‑playing music nerd, and all about celebrating the influential tracks that still make your foot move and your brain light up.
