We Think Different
For us at WPVM, radio is an art form. It informs, entertains, and unites us in a magical way made possible by electromagnetic waves combined with audio signals. It’s much bigger than a tool for propaganda or to make a dollar. WPVM is different from commercial radio; we believe it is a way to connect communities locally, nationally, and globally.
WPVM is more than just a radio station; it’s a labor of love. Our show hosts and DJs have poured their hearts into their shows, creating unique programming that reflects their deep-felt interest and the unique community of Asheville. Their passion and commitment are the lifeblood of our station, and we’re honored to have such dedicated volunteers supporting our station.
More than a century old, radio is an ever-evolving medium that continues to define itself. The same technology discovered or developed by the early pioneers like Morse and Tesla is still being used in our cellphones, personal listening devices such as iPods, GPS navigation, radar weather reports, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and internet radio. Radio’s power is the ability to connect on an intimate level; the only medium that can do that.
In a world where everyone has a bullhorn, it’s easy to feel bombarded by ‘noise’ from every corner. But at WPVM, we’re here to cut through that noise and bring you programming that’s worth your time. Our shows are carefully curated and our hosts are passionate about what they do, ensuring that you always have something interesting to listen to.
Those who have traveled abroad are well aware of the influence American music has on the world. The golden age of American music from the 20s to the 90s was a time when creativity flourished like no other in history. The music of this period endures internationally and is destined to become the classics of the modern age and will be heard centuries from now. WPVM’s music library is one of the finest in radio. We have been honored to receive music files from music lovers from local and national friends and supporters. Our music library contains nearly 800,000 files and includes folk, roots, rock, reggae, classic rock, gospel, classical, and more.
Whether it be news, public affairs, or music, we try to bring our audience the most authentic programming, locally on 103.7 and internationally on the World Wide Web.
