This is a weather and safety update from WPVM 103.7 Asheville. A significant winter storm is expected to impact Western North Carolina from Saturday through Monday, bringing freezing rain, heavy ice, and accumulating snow. The National Weather Service warns of potentially long power outages and treacherous travel conditions.
Nearly thirty Asheville-area hotels are opening their doors to local residents who need a safe place to stay during the storm. Call hotels directly to check availability, local rates, or special “snow” rates, and make arrangements before roads become hazardous.
