Johnny Caudel’s fascination with weather began in 1989, when Hurricane Hugo tore through his hometown and left a lasting impression. Around that same time, he discovered his local radio station while scanning the AM dial on his Sony Walkman—a moment that sparked a second passion. That curiosity eventually turned into a job at the station while he was still in high school, launching his broadcasting career.
Today, Johnny serves as an Advanced Storm Spotter and Weather-Ready Ambassador for the National Weather Service, partnering with NOAA to promote weather awareness, preparedness, and resilience in communities
across the country.
When he’s not watching the sky, he’s online, keeping his followers up to
speed on the latest weather stories and breaking developments from the
world of radio broadcasting.
