About the Show
The World According to Mark is a weekly radio show and podcast hosted by Mark Lieberman covering government, law and social issues as well as new technologies and the arts. Mark, who practiced law for over four decades. As they say, “practice makes perfect.” Mark uses his training and his passion for getting to the heart of today’s important issues. On his show Mark interviews guests on a variety of governmental, legal and social issues affecting Western North Carolina, the US and the world.
His broad experience, down to earth style of communicating and his natural curiosity and interest make his radio shows and podcasts interesting, entertaining, and informative. Mark is an idealist at heart, he developed a social conscience and a respect for the law and legal norms while serving as a research analyst at the Library of Congress during the Watergate Hearings.
Mark then went on to become a lawyer and one of his first jobs after law school, as an enforcement attorney for the Securities and Exchange Commission where investigated and prosecuted perpetrators of securities fraud and scams like pyramid schemes, stock manipulation and insider trading.
Later he worked on legal and compliance matters for large and small companies and became General Counsel to hospitals and life science companies assisting them in navigating the complexities of laws and regulations affecting the delivery of healthcare services.
Along the way, he found time to lecture and teach a variety of courses on business, government, and the law. Before moving to Asheville, North Carolina, he was an Adjunct Professor in the Masters Program at Widener University School of Law in Delaware. Since moving to Asheville, he has been a frequent lecturer at The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute of the University of North Carolina.
Mark is also active in community theater appearing on stage and performing with the Asheville Symphony Chorus and The Flat Rock Playhouse Chorus and other arts venues.
